Let's walk you through the process of getting your license step by step

1) First, you will need to meet the qualifications for licensure. They are as follows;

  • Citizen of the United States or lawfully admitted alien
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Resident of Texas
  • Meet TREC’s qualifications for honesty, trustworthiness, and integrity.
    Consider requesting a Moral Character Determination before applying for the license

2) Second, you will need to complete the following 180 hours of qualifying real estate courses;

  • Principles of Real Estate I
  • Principles of Real Estate II
  • Law of Agency
  • Law of Contracts
  • Promulgated Contract Forms
  • Real Estate Finance

3) File Your Application

  • Register an account with TREC here
  • If you already have an account with TREC, click here
  • Once logged in, use TREC's online services to submit the application and pay the fee

4) Get your fingerprints taken and pass your background check

If you have previously submitted fingerprints for a TALCB or TREC license, no additional fingerprints are required. Fingerprints you may have submitted for any other reason, such as previous employment or another state-issued license, are not acceptable for a TALCB or TREC license.

5) Take the exam
